Whether at work or home, misplacing or deleting data accidentally happens often. From photos and videos to audios and emails, you never know when you might need that file you just deleted.
That’s where Wondershare Recoverit comes in – this handy tool helps you recover misplaced and formatted files. It restores everything from your PC, Mac, hard drive, SD cards, USB drive, and other portable media.
Never have I ever been a fan of recovery software before, but I’ve grown into them slowly over the past few months. Besides my computer, I have numerous portable storage media, which makes me more susceptible to data loss. Whether it’s my wife formatting my USB drive to transfer her files or a friend borrowing my external hard drive and returning it a bit ‘lighter,’ this software has proven viable.
Wondershare Recoverit has a free trial version that allows you to recover files up to 100MB. And while this might be limiting, it allows you to test important software factors like the UI. And if you like it, you can always upgrade to the premium version and do away with the limitations.
It also has a responsive interface with an unmissable modern feel that’s built around minimalism. All the external drivers and disk partitions are well displayed on the home page, making it easier to launch the recovery process.
Wondershare Data Recovery Review Summary
The Wondershare Recoverit program is designed to restore formatted or misplaced files. It recovers the files from your PC, Mac, hard drive, USB drive, SD card, among other storage devices.
Like other recovery programs, the time taken to restore files depends on the specific driver that you’re scanning. For instance, during my last PC scan, the software took 56 minutes to find over 3500 files raking 37.34GB. On the same day, it took about 18 minutes to scan my 16GB USB drive recovering 3.43GB in the process.
As you can see, the software takes time to recover your files, but I love it because it retrieves lost files, especially those you haven’t backed up. That’s big for me because I regularly delete files that I think are useless, only to realize that I need them for another project.
Before I started using Wondershare Recoverit, I’d usually have to start from scratch most of the time. Not only was it frustrating, but it was also time-consuming. For now, I only sacrifice a few minutes of scanning, and I can comfortably carry on. I’m yet to come out dry from a scan, but I always make regular backups, especially for large files to avoid the disaster.

What Is Wondershare Recoverit?
Wondershare Recoverit is a simple and effective data recovery program that’s available for both PC and Mac computers. Whether accidentally formatted or misplaced, the software recovers the files from your PC, Mac, USB drive, SD card, mobile phone, and digital camera. It has a simple to use interface, and recovery only takes 3 steps. Moreover, the software supports over 1000 file formats and data types.
Do You Need Wondershare Recoverit?
Yes. Everyone needs a data recovery tool, and Wondershare Recoverit is an ideal option. It supports numerous file types and is available for both PC and Mac computers. In addition to the computer, the software recovers data from USB drives, external hard drives, smartphones, and cameras. So, if you want to recover data from either easily, this program is a great option.
Is Wondershare Recoverit Free?
Like most other computer software, Wondershare Recoverit is available in two different versions — free and paid. The free version allows you to learn how to navigate the well-designed program and recover up to 100MB of data. And while that’s decent if you’re dealing with photos and short audios, if you want to recover large videos, you’ll need to upgrade to the premium version.
The premium version lifts off the size limitations, allowing you to recover as much as you can. The software’s price differs slightly for PC and Mac computers, but both have unique flexibility that allows you to choose a plan that suits your needs.
The paid version of Wondershare Recoverit has two pricing plans; Pro and Ultimate. The main difference between these two is the ‘System Data Crash Recovery’ utility that’s only available in the latter. Besides the small difference, the Pro version is limitation-free.
How much does Wondershare Recoverit Cost?
There are three payment plans for individuals depending on the number of computers and the longevity of the purchase. For as low as $49.95 for PC users and $75.95 for the Mac edition, the price is relatively affordable.
More so, you can purchase the software license for either a month, a year, or a lifetime with a slight increment in pricing. Also, there’s a business plan available where you can also choose the number of computers and your preferred longevity plan.
Note: Wondershare Recoverit is available at a 30% discount for students and teachers. Simply register with Student Beans and enjoy the discount as soon as your student status is verified.
Is Wondershare Data Recovery safe?
Yes. The software recovers deleted files safely and conveniently to save your time and money. Unlike other programs in the price range, the program is easy to use, and it doesn’t come bundled with third-party programs. Before installation, it passes scans from Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes Antimalware. Additionally, you download the software from the Wondershare server, which is secure, successfully alienating any possibility of virus entanglement.
How good is Recoverit?
Overall, Wondershare Recoverit is worth every dime. Firstly, it restores numerous data types and file formats, including NTFS, FAT, HFS+, and APFS. Secondly, it uses high-tech data recovery systems to recover data from media that other companies may have labeled as unrecoverable. Thirdly, it has an exemplarily easy to use interface and an outstanding 3-step recovery process. Lastly, it has one of the best recovery rates in the industry, successfully recovering data from different loss scenarios.
How to use Wondershare Recoverit
Luckily, this program is very easy to get your head around. Once you’ve downloaded it, make sure you connect the specific device you want to scan. Open the software and from the list of connected devices that appears, choose the specific one and press the start button. If you want to scan your hard drive, select the same, and start the recovery process. The software partitions all the devices perfectly for you on the first page.
With the Recoverit program, you can restore data from different loss scenarios. Here are some of the recoverable options:
- File Recovery
- Trash Recovery
- Partition Recovery
- Devices Recovery
1. Files Recovery
Wondershare Recoverit is one of the best file recovery options for pictures, videos, audios, and document files. It has a high success rate in the industry, and the possibilities keep on increasing as you move to the Pro and Ultimate versions.
What’s more, it recovers the files from different loss scenarios. From accidental deletion to virus attacks and system crashes, you’re only 3 steps away from your files.
2. Recycle Bin Recovery
For Windows users, Recoverit allows you to recover files that you ‘permanently deleted’ from the recycle bin. How this works is the program employs advanced scanning algorithms to restore the files without affecting their quality. What’s more, you can see what the tool has scanned and found in a preview panel before restoring.
3. Partition Recovery
Partition recovery involves the restoration of damaged, deleted, formatted, and lost partitions. This effective tool supports numerous file formats, including NTFS, HFS, HFS+, FAT, and HFSX. Recovering an entire partition at once saves you a lot of time that could have otherwise been lost recovering the files individually.
4. Devices Recovery
This section of Recoverit is especially important for people who deal with independent storage spaces. Everything from external hard drives, USB drives, SD cards, memory cards, digital cameras, and smartphones. The device recovery option allows you to retrieve corrupted, lost, or deleted files from these storage media. I’ve used it numerous times, and it’s more efficient than any other recovery program that I’ve used before.
Data Backup and Recovery Tests
To show you how easy it is to use the program, I’ll run two separate recovery tests using Recoverit. For the Wondershare Data Recovery review, I’ll use common data loss scenarios to recover files from ‘My Documents’ and a USB drive. Remember, your results may vary depending on your situation — frequency of file recovery and specific data loss scenario.
For the tests, I used my 16GB USB drive, which had different file types and data formats. I also transferred the same files to the computer and saved them under ‘My Documents.’ Everything from images to videos and audios to documents files. I even had to add a few items to have a good mix of file formats.
Test #1: File Recovery from a USB Drive
For the USB drive, I started by formatting all the files. Then I proceeded to open the program and head to the ‘External Devices’ partition. From here, I just clicked on my USB drive, followed by the ‘Start’ button. Before starting the process, you can either search for a specific file type or search everything with the deep scan option. Normally, I’d choose the specific file I’m looking for because it’s much faster, but we’ll use ‘All-Around Recovery’ for today.
The deep scan took about 16 minutes to probe the 16GB flash drive. The time indicator isn’t as accurate as I thought because it first indicated 40 minutes at the start, and the process took less than half of the predicted time. As expected, the scan found a lot of files, but the file names had been changed to numbers. There weren’t too many files for me, so I decided to restore everything.
From the pop-up window that appears, you can choose the preferred recovery location. To avoid overwriting the files, I opted to recover to a different drive. For this one, the process took less than 2 minutes to restore 3.43GB of files. As said earlier, recovered files bear numbers instead of file names. However, most of the files recovered are exactly the same as the original files. In my case, I couldn’t recover a few files, and some restored video files wouldn’t play. Despite the mishap, I was happy to recover more than 80% of the files I had deleted before the test.
Test #2: File Recovery from ‘My Documents’
Like I did with the USB drive, I transferred different file formats of images, videos, and other files to my computer before the test. Again, a quick scan normally does it for me, but today we’ll go for the kill with the deep scan option. After deleting the files, I opened the Recoverit program, selected the deep scan option, and headed to ‘My Documents.’ The program scanned 37.34GB and recovered 3604 files.
Considering that I only wanted a few files back for the test, this was a large number of files for me to sort. The best thing about it is there’s a small preview panel that separates what is recoverable and what is not. From the small preview, corrupted images are gray, which means you can’t get them back.
The program also allows you to either use the ‘Files View’ or ‘Tree View.’ For the files view, the files are sorted based on their specific type. On the other hand, the tree view sorts the files on location. This might not be a huge facet, but it makes the recovery process much easier, especially after a deep scan. It took about 30 minutes to sort out everything and see what I actually needed and what I didn’t.
The pain of looking through individual files was too much. I used various filter options, including the file size, but the job was still tiring. I recommend using the quick scan if possible, and only going for ‘All Around Recovery’ when necessary. There are a few files that were already corrupted and others that I couldn’t recover. Overall, I was satisfied with the recovery success percentage, even with the tedious sorting process.
- Time Machine — Time machine is an ideal backup program for Mac users that lets you restore different files if you accidentally delete them. This inbuilt software restores your lost files in minutes. However, unlike Wondershare Recoverit, it only restores files in the backup. It doesn’t have all the features to scan and recover lost files without an earlier backup.
- Stellar Data Recovery — Stellar Data Recovery software is a powerful toolkit for both Windows and Mac operating systems users. Like Recoverit, it recovers lost, misplaced, corrupt, and deleted files from internal and external storage drivers. What’s more, it supports multiple file formats and has a splendid recovery success rate.
Wondershare Data Recovery Review: Final Words
And that’s it! Wondershare is an incredible data recovery software for both Windows and Mac users. Its remarkably responsive UI and easy-to-follow steps on both platforms make it a fan-favorite. The program supports numerous file formats and successfully recovers data from multiple loss scenarios. Whether you misplaced, accidentally deleted, or have a corrupted drive, you’re only 3-steps away from your files.
For close to two decades, Recoverit has helped over 5 million data recovery users get their files back. It’s efficient and successful in retrieving lost data regardless of the timeline — as long as it’s not overwritten, you can always get it back. Besides the attractive success rate, the program also boasts competitive pricing for the Pro and Ultimate versions.
I was able to recover a good number of the test files I used, including music, images, videos, and document files. I’ve used several recovery software before, but Recoverit is a cut above the rest. It’s simple, efficient, and affordable. For me, it does what it claims to do, and I strongly recommend that you give it a try.
Thanks for the read.
